Details of the Event:

  • The Travel Club of SEAD organized a Mylapore Heritage Walk for students from all years of both B.Des and B.Arch programs. The event aimed to provide students with cultural exposure and an opportunity to experience the historic fabric of Mylapore through the motto Walk, Talk, Eat, Repeat.
  • The program began with the assembly of students at the famous Kapaleeswarar Temple. From there, the students were divided into four groups, each guided by two faculty members. To start the day, the groups explored four different local eateries to experience authentic South Indian breakfast. Once refreshed, all participants gathered again at the temple complex, where Prof. Subhalakshmi ma’am provided an engaging glimpse into the temple’s architectural and cultural history.
  • Following this, the heritage walk continued to the Ramakrishna Math, where students gained knowledge about the spiritual and cultural importance of the institution. The journey then led to Santhome Church, a landmark of colonial and religious heritage, where Prof. Subhalakshmi ma’am once again shared her insights into its historical background.
  • The enriching experience concluded with lunch, with each group trying out food at different local spots. Overall, the heritage walk was a blend of learning, exploration, and cultural appreciation.
